First Week o' School!

I cannot believe that I've neglected you guys for an entire week without regaling you on the details of my first week of school-school! So, yup, first time I've been to a 5-day-a-week school, first time I've been to a Catholic school, first time I've worn an actual uniform-uniform.

My previous school was a charter school that I only actually went to twice a week, and the rest of the week I had work at home to do. They had uniforms, but they were super lax about them. Sure, the rules stated that you couldn't wear big dangly earrings or makeup or anything like that, but nobody bothered with that. We just wore the colorful polos with the name of the school on, and we were good. At this school we have to wear white polos and plaid skirts, the boys can't have hair touching their collars, and you have to be able to see your socks over the tops of your shoes. This quizzicals me. (BOOM! I just made quizzical a verb!)

Also, 5-days-a-week.

So. Not. Used. To. This. It seems like every afternoon I think, "No biggie, I'll just work on this tomorrow—oh, no I won't." I guess part of the problem is that I have a specific schedule I'm following every weekday until the end of August (and hence the end of Camp NaNo!), and, due to my parents ignoring my schedule almost entirely, it's all mucked up. Still, I'M NOT QUITTING NANO.

It makes me happy. I love it. It's a great experience. So, no, I will not be easing up on my writi-magating any time soon. At least, not in the next five days. Which is a helluva long time if you're not used to, like, leaving the house on a regular basis.

ANYWAY, school. It's pretty great. If I had to rate all of my teachers, then my music teacher, my science/religion teacher and my homeroom/language arts teacher would be my top three. Also, teachers love me for some reason. It's not like I do anything besides sit in the back of the room and be quiet. But I suppose I'm a lot easier to deal with than, say…everyone else in the class. Heh.

Ooh, friends. That always has to get mentioned in a big rant about school. In most of my classes, I sit next to Caroline, who is like a slightly less nonsensical Vanessa in some respects. (Yes, I am identifying almost everyone from this school with people from my old school. Come on, Ariel and Bailey would be best buds if I could ever get them to meet! Sadly, I'm missing several people on which to *ahem* force identification upon. There's no Noah at this school, or Skittles. No one can replace my Skittles.)

Today we got to meet our kindergarten buddies for the first time. Mine is named Will, and he's the cutest little thing ever. *squee* We talked about Playmobile and San Francisco and Chicago and Lego and otters and cupcakes and the color green and how I double-knotted his shoelaces for him and Phineas and Ferb. In that order.

Well, this has been a long, rant-y post about school and stuff. I love my new school, but I still miss my old one from the bottom of my heart. I wish I could see all my old friends—and Mrs. Landers—again.

Have I Mentioned That I Have A Cat Today?

Yeah, she's still here. I haven't accidently killed her, gone insane and murdered her, lost her, or sold her for iTunes cards.

"Good Lord."

Okay, that sounded really, really bad. Dark humor, people, I'll be here all week! Or until the Internet dies, whichever comes first!

I'm just going to try this again.

My cat is being a lovely little mollycoddle ("That word makes no sense in context, Omnia."), which here means "the silliest cat I have ever owned. For serious."

"No! It! Doesn't! It means to treat someone very indulgently or protectively, or, as a noun, an effeminate man or boy! Sometimes I think you say things just to spite me!"

Yup. Way to rawr, Claud.

Now that Claudia has curled up in the corner, sobbing over my word choice, I can go on with my post:

Salisbury--that's one of my nicknames for her. Salisbury. 'Cause, you know, her name's Sally. Other nicknames include Puddin', Cat-Cat, Sal, and Holy-Crap-How-Did-You-Do-That-?!

So, Sal's been--

You know what, I never actually planned any content for this post, so…

*end*

(Also, I cannot find my library card. This frightens and upsets me.)

(Also, here is something awesome. It's, like, funny. And stuff.

Memorial Day

I'd post a bit about it being Memorial Day and all, but my mind still hasn't gotten past "Bluh…hot…wahhh…"

I got some ice cream a few minutes ago. In my mind, I fantasized about it looking something like this:
I kinda stole the picture from Google Images…

What a lovely fata morgana. It ended up looking like this:

Sorry I ate most of it on the way upstairs. Also: Yes, I'm eating ice cream out of a mug, and yes, I often use books as tiny little tables when I'm sitting on my bed.

If I could think of anything else to say, I'd say it, but…bluh…hot…

Uh, happy Memorial Day! What a miserable excuse for a post. Here is my favorite awesome thing for today. If you want an awesome thing vaguely related to this post, then here and here. *drools*

(My ice cream is gone now. I am sad.)

Feeling Uninspired

Yeah, I'm not in a good mood today. (Stupid school which I will be doing all summer because the stupid school stuff is messed up.) And when I'm in a bad mood, inspiration is hard to come by, which puts me in an even worse mood. It's a never-ending circle of bad mood.

But when I'm in a bad mood, I like to listen to music. One of my favorite bad-mood songs is Singin' in the Rain, which always makes me feel a bit better. Also, Eric The Half-a-Bee. Which might explain the influx of deformed animals and thunderstorms in my novel…which actually makes scary, scary sense to the story.

Yes, this is a post with the thinly-veiled purpose of telling you why I can't write a good post today.

Oh yeah, I went to the library yesterday! I got two new books. Which is why I was giddy with excitement yesterday and…less so today. (I finished The Time Paradox this morning. Now I am sad, because it is over.)

(Did that last post have any relevance whatsoever to anything I was talking about earlier? Surely not! But it's my blog, my rules. Humph.)

Not Quite Sure What To Do

After doing a solid, hour-long block of schoolwork (okay, I might have spent a few minutes on TVTropes. But no more than a few!), I decided to take a break. I read a few new posts on the NaNo forums, I checked my email (nothing), I checked a couple of blogs, I checked my email again (STILL nothing! It's like all my friends are in school, learning things, instead of hanging out on the internet as if they have no life!), and then came here. After I clicked the "New Post" button and the page loaded, I realized I had no idea what I was going to post about.

Sure, I have things that I could talk about, like that giant list of weird facts I probably shouldn't know (did you know that LSD is not addictive?) or my trip to the school I'm going to next year. But none of them seem like something I want to talk about.

I feel very stuck right now. Obviously, my lack of material is a sign that I should probably not be a blogger. I can't think of any dreams that I haven't already recounted a million and one times, and I can't think of anything interesting that's happened to me recently. I went to the Botanical Gardens? I had a cup of tea this morning? It was really hot yesterday? I…have no idea what to say. Oddly enough, I have no trouble talking about some aspects of my writing In Real Life ("So, my antagonist is a dormouse who owns a company that makes cleaning products and she kidnapped Allie in order to lure Lily and Arthur to her secret office block and they break in wearing suits…") but that just doesn't strike me as something I want to blog about.

What do you think? What do you want to hear about from me? Do you even want to read anything in particular? I'm pretty sure I fixed the comments so that anyone can comment. I am relatively new to the whole blogging thing.

Memories and Mugs

It's not a dream, but this mug is making me sad.

The NaNoWriMo website has been down for days. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I'm not feeling so much fondness as I didn't realize how much I procrastinated there until now. While I'm waiting for it to come back, I thought I'd explain why I have an emotional like to the word digress. Because I am bored.

I've been homeschooled for my entire life, except for a semester and a half that I spent in a regular school. Well, I say regular… Anyway, I liked that school a million times better than homeschooling. But then we moved to an area where, frankly, there aren't any good public schools. Next year I'll probably go to a private school, but until then I'm back to homeschooling. Blah.

What does this have to do with digression? Well, my old school was pretty small, so one teacher taught everything but P.E. and art class. So basically we stayed in the same room all day. But this made for quite a few inside jokes. Digressing was one of them. Every time we lost track of the lesson, our teacher would tell us, "Stop, you're digressing!" If we kept talking, then she would take out her music box and we would have ten seconds to be quiet. (Which I would recommend for any class; I've never seen a room of adolescents quiet down faster.) To this day, I still chastise people for digressing about once a week. And that is my not-very-interesting story of digression. I have lots of memories that are a lot more fun to read about, I promise. But that one kind of relates to my blog title, so I just thought I'd mention it.

Now go do something productive.
